I didn’t plan an elaborate party, but I wanted it to be fun for all. I wanted to have a sweets bar set up with gold candies in dishes and I decided to combine it with a game: The Sweet Memories Game. Basically, some trifold poster boards decorated with pictures from the last fifty years. Each picture is numbered. There were sheets with the years and the guests had to guess which photo belongs to which year. I had 50 pictures The guests enjoyed candies and sweets while looking at them. Bonus- the kids were very excited to do this because the winner received a giant Hershey Kiss!
Collecting the pictures was a bit time consuming. The early years were difficult to find, as most of the photos were of my brother and me. The photos were small and not the best quality. I ended up taking pictures of the pictures in my parents albums and tweaking the contrast and white balance a bit.
In the end, would you believe that we had a tie? We had a tie breaker with 3 questions from the wedding day. The second place winners didn’t make out too bad on the deal because I just dumped a bunch of the chocolate that was on the sweets table in a large bowl and sent it home with them. (I certainly don’t need it at my house!) Everyone was happy.
I had a table up front with their wedding album, prom pictures of my parents and the new ones that I took for their anniversary.
In the hall in the entry way, I filled the tables with pictures of our family.
