Summer is a busy time for all and I haven’t been posting, but I’ve been busy with a few projects. Today, though is a quick post to share my new fascination with succulents. For Mother’s Day this year, I got a collection of succulents. I love the colors and textures of these plants and especially how they look planted together. I wanted to make up some planters and I am hoping to propagate them to make some wall hangings in the future.
I have been following another blog: http://www.succulent and sunshine.com She has lots of information about caring for succulents and ideas for projects.
So I thought I’d share what I did so far with mine. I don’t feel like these are anything special, but down the road, I’m hoping to do more with these.
These were the first two planters I made up.
I made this one up with a flow blue piece that I won at an auction. It didn’t have a lid and I had it tucked away in my china cabinet. It’s getting much better use as a planter, I believe. I just added layers of stone at the bottom.
And Connor’s favorite was this vintage froggy soap and toothbrush holder. I just planted this one two weeks ago so I’m not sure how it will work. I’m hoping the mouth grows in a little. It still amuses me though!
I’ve been trying to propagate some succulents this summer. I have been letting the leaves dry out in a bird’s nest on a shelf on my porch.
Then I plant them in an aluminum baking pan on the shelf below. I have some offshoots starting!
I am still trying to do my 365 cleanup project and have finished group 5:
Hope you are enjoying your summer!
