It’s been a long, hard year… I know it hasn’t been easy for anyone. Here it is, only one week left and I can’t imagine that there was ever a new year that I looked forward to, more than 2021. I am hopeful for next year in many ways, mostly for the return of “normal”.
So, this past year, my son and I completed our pandemic project, a fire pit (I’ll post about later), I continued with my 365 project (photo a day), worked in critical care and tried to keep it all together through this mess!
Crafting
And here it is Christmas time! So I thought I’d share some of my Christmas crafting, which gives me joy, and who doesn’t need some joy in their life about now?
Every year, I do “Cash and Carry” at a local gallery for artists of all types. They give panels, we create and they sell. This year, they are selling online and they gave out masks instead of panels. I crafted mine into ornaments. A snowman and 2 commemorative 2020 ornaments.
Next, I went with a cheery color theme for Christmas. Before my son came home from college at Thanksgiving break, I was at Costco, and picked up a large bag of clementines for him. I had one when I got home and it was sour! What to do? I saw opportunity- I cut them into this slices and dehydrated them. We placed them on the tree as ornaments and made garland for the windows. They added a nice pop of color- cheery, like little stained glass circles. Orange is my youngest son’s signature color and it is so cheery, maybe not your normal Christmas color, but, this was NOT your normal Christmas!
And finally, I’m sharing my 2020 Christmas card:
This year made me thing of what was necessary and what was not. I tried to make a light hearted card to reflect that – safe at home , with all the stresses of the world outside my window, but in reality, what we all need is love, kindness, family, health and hope. I hope that your next year is cheery orange with lots of happy memories and less of the 2020 stuff.
Happy 2021!
