I mentioned in my last post that I saved wine bottles for the centerpieces. I know this is pretty common way of making an inexpensive centerpiece. I just didn’t want it to look like a wine bottle.
After collecting , cleaning and taking the labels off. I decided to try a marbling technique that I had seen online. Again, it also is a way to recycle another item- old nail polish (which I have way more than I need!)
This is how I made them. I used a disposable baking pan, 3 shades of nail polish- a glittery gold, ivory and nude color, a stick to swirl them together and water.
Fill the pan about 2/3 with water. pour a little of each color on top of the water, quickly swirl them together and rotate the wine bottle quickly through the water. It was super fast and fun.
The only thing I would recommend is that you have all the lids loose or off and the stick ready, because it starts to dry really quick. I probably swirled the bottles in the water within 10 seconds of pouring. When I waited, it got a little clumpy on the bottle. (Although it still looked pretty cool). I let them dry for a good while. It was old nail polish so it took a while to harden.
Then I just sprayed the tops with metallic gold spray paint (the same one that I used for the branches. I was going to add Washi tape to the top, but couldn’t find the gold wash tape I bought. So I just called them finished!
