Quick little post this evening before we go out to ring in the New Year.
Somehow, the beginning of a new year always seems like a fresh start, a time for change and all the resolutions are made with great intentions. They are forgotten about by January 20th and then we feel like a failure. Truth is, every day is a fresh start. Instead of making a resolution to lose weight, get organized or quit a bad habit, maybe we need to start with just a daily goal. Breaking it up into smaller streps.
Part of my blog is about organizing, but the truth is that I am not really organized. I’m just someone who keeps trying to be organized. I fail, but I keep trying. This year, I decided to try a new challenge: a 365 project. For those not into photography, a 365 project is a photo a day for an entire year. I’ve done two of them (this is my last one): https://www.flickr.com/photos/myost_photography/albums/72157623368842500 They are wonderful to improve your skill, meet people with similar interests, and challenge your creativity. They are also a bit time consuming. If you are into photography, I highly recommend trying it, even if only for a month.
But this year, I’m going to try a 365 project where I get rid of one thing a day: to donate, trash or consign. Most will probably be donate or trash. The idea that I have 365 things to get rid of sounds unbelievable, but last year for lent, I donated one thing a day for 40 days (just from my closet and dresser drawers) and I barely made a dent! That’s pretty sad.
You can’t organize junk or clutter. If you feel like joining me, please do. If you want to just do one item a week, you will still be rid of 52 items in the next year. I am planning on marking an x on my paper calendar for each item. My goal is to not get more than a week behind.
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2017!
